I couldn’t resist.
Sunday I was sitting at home, and I looked around. The house needed cleaning. Not what I was looking forward to. I would have preferred to go outside and enjoy the day or at least do a little bit of work.
So I decided to do some work and get the house cleaned. Since cleaning house is not a particular pleasant task or particular good use of my time, I decided to leverage my time instead. I took the couple of hours it would have taken me to do a mediocre job of cleaning the house, and instead I invested the time in creating a website for my house cleaner.
You see, Sourayo has cleaned my house before and done a great job. I just decided that I was going to save some money for a couple of months and not use her. I know, not the best plan if you don’t like to clean yourself and can’t stand living in a mess. But I had a better short term use for that money.
So instead of cleaning my house once, I decided to leverage my time and I built her a website, House Cleaning RI. I’ll spend a bit of time promoting it and in return she will clean my house. I’m happy to get her the extra work, I enjoy doing the web work and search engine optimization, and instead of spending my time doing simple tasks that others can do, I get to do the fun things I enjoy doing and have an expertise in.
Sure, the house won’t be clean for another week, but I’m in NYC a few days each week for one of my clients anyway. And I love to help people build their businesses.
